From Ink to AI

Jim Bacon is the founder and publisher of Bacon’s Rebellion, a long-running Virginia-focused news and public-policy publication known for independent analysis and sharp commentary on government, business, and civic life.

With decades of experience in journalism and public affairs, Jim has observed firsthand the rise, decline, and transformation of American news — from the heyday of large metropolitan newspapers in the 1980s to today’s fragmented digital media landscape.

In this Encorepreneur! session, Jim will explore the evolution of news: how journalism worked during its “golden age,” what was lost as traditional business models collapsed, how today’s media environment took shape, and what lies ahead as artificial intelligence begins to influence how news is gathered, written, distributed, and consumed.

1771 North Parham Road - Near Regency

Born in Richmond, Virginia, shortly after the conclusion of the Civil War, Henry W. Woody lived all his life in the city and established the Woody Funeral Home near Historic St. John’s Church in 1905. The business outgrew the original facility and a new, more modern building was built at 25th Street and Jefferson Avenue in 1916. Mr. Woody continued to serve families of the greater Richmond area from that location until his death in 1958. The company currently has 4 locations including the Parham Road facility. DIRECTIONS
