The Ashland Theatre
A 1948 movie house, donated to its town and lovingly reborn.
About The Ashland Theatre
The Ashland Theatre first opened its doors in 1948 in what Ashland residents call “the Center of the Universe,” and operated as a movie theater for nearly 50 years. In 2013, owners Jean and A.D. Whittaker donated the theatre to the Town of Ashland; after a complete renovation it reopened on December 26, 2018.
Operated by the nonprofit Ashland Theatre Foundation, its mission is to reinvent the classic American movie-house experience through film, live performances, music, speakers and events that entertain, educate and inspire — including sensory-friendly screenings for families with children on the autism spectrum.
